“Sign, sign everywhere a sing”
(Les Emmerson of Five Man Electrical Band, 1970)

The place I do most of my walking is in hospital corridors, and there are signs and lots of them. There are signs on the walls, hanging overhead, on T shirts, and outside on the hospital lawn. Hospital signs that have impacted me recently are: NO MATTER WHAT, LET HOPE THRIVE, ALL IN, and LOVE TO THE FRONT LINE.
As I continue walking past a sign, I usually ask myself, “What’s that sign trying to get me to do, or think?” or “How does that message square with my values?” or “Is that message a good dose of medicine for me?” Signs, songs, and lyrics have a way of lodging in our minds. What do you think of the above mentioned hospital signs?
