Changes for the Good of Patients and Our Lives
Jesse Stroup, Director of Spiritual Care – Dallas
We have visiting privileges to non-covid patients in six hospitals right now. After doing rounds, we try to contact the Covid patients by phone especially patients not in ICU. In our workshops we have added training for making phone visits. Lonely Covid patients, often appreciate a phone visit. Covid has precipitate changes to our ministry.
“Godspeed,” a YouTube video with Matt Canlis, has heightened my awareness of slowing down in relationships and in ministry. Matt’s life was changed by his experience as a parish intern under Pastor Allen McDonald in Scotland. Our culture values speed, but remember God walked with Adam and Even in the cool of the evening – that’s a slow pace, not 60 miles per hour. Godspeed is a great video that Justin Thompson showed the staff recently.
Statistics for Lifeline Dallas are 1,606 people served by volunteers; 1,469 by me = 3,075 people served in 2021. We continue to make changes for the good as Covid impacts our lives and culture.
