Types of Training from Lifeline Chaplaincy

WORKSHOPS

Workshops are our most comprehensive, in-person educational trainings. Workshops—Ministry in Times of Illness and Loss (MTIL), parts 1 and 2—primarily serve as our means of training our hospital volunteers, though the skills learned can be applied to different circumstances. Part 1 introduces how to provide quality pastoral care in a hospital setting. Part 2 is a follow-up for those who have been serving as volunteers to advance their skills and reflect upon their experiences. These workshops utilize our training manual, which is filled with an abundance of skills, insights, and resources.

SEMINARS

Seminars are three-hour, in-person trainings for groups that want a 10,000-foot view of pastoral care. Our seminars pull material from the MTIL workshops and provide a smaller portion of this rich pastoral care content. Seminars are available on-demand based on need and location.

WEBINARS

Webinars are 90-minute, virtual trainings facilitated by a different Lifeline Chaplain each month that cover special topics and book discussions relating to pastoral care. Webinars are scheduled in advance, and we strive to offer one webinar per month.

INTERNSHIPS

Internships are 12-week experiences over the summer where university students have the opportunity to learn and practice pastoral care in hospital and group settings.
